The influence of titanium dioxide additive on the short-term DC breakdown strength of polyethylene
نویسنده
چکیده
The effect of the addition of I % by weight of titanium dioxide fine particles to low density polyethylene (LDPE) on the short-term d.c. breakdown strength of the LDPE was investigated using direct and reverse polarity voltages. The samples used, were cylinders of both plain and doped materials, with hemespherically tipped cylinderical electrodes completely embedded in the material, with a minimum gap length between the electrodes tips of 0.25 mm. All tests were conducted at room temperature. Results indicate that although the addition of TiO, has reduced the d.c. breakdown strength of the doped material if compared to the plain material, yet it has significantly improved its d.c. reverse polarity characteristics. The doped material seems to be insensitive to the d.c. polarity reversals. The observed beneficial effect of the addition of TiO, on the d.c. reverse polarity characteristics is attributed to the role of this additive in modifying the trapping levels in the polymer, and the consequent change in the space charge pattern in the doped material.

Experimental investigation of the effect of titanium dioxide and barium titanate additives on DC transient currents in low density polyethylene
The effect of titanium dioxide as a semiconductive additive and barium titanate as a highly polar additive on the d.c. transient currents in low density polyethylene is investigated. Experiments were made using thick specimens under high electric field ( > 25 x 106 V/m) and constant temperature of 40OC. Results indicate that the incorporation of the foresaid additives has a remarkable effect on...

Titanium dioxide nanoparticles (nTiO2) are the world's second most widely consumed nanomaterial and large quantities of this material enters the aquatic ecosystem annually. Therefore, understanding the effects of nTiO2 on aquatic organisms is very important. The present study used Daphnia magna as a model freshwater organism and Pontogammarus maeoticus as a brackish water organism to evaluate s...

In the current research project, sol-gel electrophoresis technique was utilized to grow titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanotubes. A titanium sol was prepared using organometallic precursors of titanium to fill the template channels. The prepared solwas driven into nanopores of porous anodic aluminum oxide templates under the influence of a DC electric field to form nanotubes on the pore walls. Tube fo...
متن کاملModel to estimate the trapping parameters of cross-linked polyethylene cable peelings of different service years and their relationships with dc breakdown strengths
In this study, an improved trapping/detrapping model was used to simulate the charge dynamics in cross-linked polyethylene peelings from different-year aged cables. Injection barrier of trapping parameters was estimated by the model fitted to experimental data for each type of sample. Moreover, dc breakdown tests were operated on those samples. It has been found that the dc breakdown strength o...

Extended Abstract Introduction: Drought stress, as abiotic and multidimensional stress, has severe effects on plant growth. One of the new approaches in the management of drought stress is the use of nanoparticles. Nanoparticles infilterate the seeds and increase nutrient and water uptake and ultimately, improve germination. The present research was conducted to evaluate the effects of titaniu...
